Duration: June 25th – August 19th (8 weeks)
Target audience: Youth ages 12 to 15 years. Limited to the first 15 registrations.
Monday 6:00-7:00pm: Cycling at West Royalty biocommons park
• Bike handling skills and safety while cycling are a key aspect. Program will also include transitions and some short runs off the bike. The main focus is becoming confident on a bike with some fitness and technical gains.
Wednesday 6:00 – 7:00pm: Swim at Bell Aliant Centre
• Drill and technique focused with the inclusion of some sets, races and relays. Possible open water swim in the last week to prepare for the race.
Thursday 6:00pm – 7:00pm: Run at UPEI Track
• Practices will be primarily consist of drills and technical skills for efficient running. Games will also be incorporated with the goal of providing fitness gains and enjoyment.
Participants must be between the ages of 12 and 15 in this calendar year and must be able to swim a full lap of the 25m pool unassisted. Road bikes are preferred but hybrid and mountain bikes are also acceptable. Participants must bring their own helmet, water bottle, running shoes, bathing suit and goggles.
The program will be lead by Alex Neuffer and assisted by several assistant coaches. Alex will be the contact for the program and he will be present on the day of the race to coach the group.
